20 new levels coming to "Where's My Perry?"

Disney's follow up game to the very popular "Where's My Water?" app on Android (and iOS), "Where's My Perry?", is picking up 20 new levels today. Similar to its predecessor, "Where's My Perry?" directs players to use different gadgets -- in this case lasers -- to break through different obstacles and get to the spy at the end of the level. With this update, players now have 20 more levels to get through.

Coming from Disney, the animation and story line are top notch, and now you have 20 new reasons to give it a look. It's available for free at the Google Play Store link above, and you can buy the full version for $0.99.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 receiving small OTA update

The Galaxy Note 10.1 has had some mixed press since its release. Today, the Note is back in the news, but in a good way. Users in our forums are reporting that their Galaxy Tab 10.1's are pulling down a small OTA update -- about 75MB in size -- that's bringing a few much needed bugfixes to the device. Although the update keeps the device on Ice Cream Sandwich, it looks to fix compatibility with 64GB SDcards, change some UI issues that keep menus from moving and fixes a bug that would show/hide the keyboard erratically.

Have a Galaxy Note 10.1 laying around? Head to the settings menu and check for an update, you may just be greeted with a 75MB download. If you receive the update, hit up the forums and let us know how it goes.

T-Mobile USA and Metro PCS and the $1.5 billion merger

Turns out rumors of a fall wedding were true, and T-Mobile USA and Metro PCS have announced they're getting hitched in a $1.5 billion merger. Metro PCS will be taking T-Mobile's name, and the message they're pushing is one of value and affordability. Deutsche Telekom CEO René Obermann:

We are extremely pleased to announce this transaction with MetroPCS, which enhances Deutsche Telekom’s position in the expanding U.S. wireless market. The T-Mobile and MetroPCS brands are a great strategic fit – both operationally and culturally. Regarding the iPhone -- or, more accurately, the prospect of finally getting an iPhone on T-Mobile: As expected, nobody really took that one on during this morning's conference call. Executives did, however, remind everyone that T-Mobile's open to folks bringing unlocked AT&T iPhones to its network. But for now, nothing new on the prospect of an iPhone 5.

Wiley Beefs Up Higher Ed Biz: Partners With Knewton, Buys Online Degree Veteran Deltak For $220M

John Wiley & Sons, the 200-year-old publishing giant best known for its scientific, technical and medical texts and journals geared towards academic and scholarly audiences, appears to be on a mission to beef up its higher education business with a dose of technology. Following on the heels of its partnership with Knewton, the academic publisher has announced that it will acquire Chicago-based online degree services company, Deltak.edu for $220 million. Survey says Android claims 48% of U.S. tablet market share

A recent study by Pew examined how folks are using tablets and other mobile tech in the U.S., and revealed that 22% of American adults have a tablet, and of the tablets out there, Android powers 48% of them. Not bad considering Apple dominated the space last year with 81%. Other sources estimated that around this time last year, Android had 27% of the tablet space.The whole tablet space is set to continue growing, with 23% of those without a tablet responding that they were planning on getting one in the next six months.

About half of the Android tablets being used were Kindle Fires, which have earned a ton of popularity thanks primarily to their affordability. The survey further goes into detail about how tablet and smartphone adoption are increasing the consumption of news content, and that browser content (versus apps) is on the rise.

Sony Playstation Mobile store now live, offers cross-platform games and apps from $0.80

After what feels like a mighty long time since it was first announced, Sony's cross-platform PlayStation Mobile store is now up and running with an initial line-up of games (plus one lonely-looking app) for the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation Certified Android devices. That hardware category currently includes Sony's latest tablets and Xperias, plus HTC One-branded handsets -- check the source link for a full list and installation instructions. So far, we can access PSM on the Vita via a new tab on the PlayStation Store, and we know that readers are having luck on devices in the US -- including the Xperia Play -- but the One X (both global and AT&T) has only given us error messages. If you succeed or fail, please post your results below and we'll update accordingly.

Update: Okay, there are definitely teething problems on HTC devices and we're reaching out for an explanation. Meanwhile, owners of the Nexus 7 and the Xperia Ion on AT&T bring happier tidings.

Barnes & Noble updates Nook reading app

Not to be overshadowed by all of the recent Amazon news, Barnes & Noble is following up on its latest Nook hardware announcements with an updated Nook reading app for Android (and yes, iOS). This update to version 3.2 of the app adds lots of good features, including zooming for comic books, improved fonts and margins, a full dictionary and a fix for pre-ordering with the app.

Many people have pretty much locked themselves into Amazon if they're big book readers, but if you've yet to lock yourself into a certain book ecosystem, it's always worth looking into all options before taking that plunge.

After failing to merge with AT&T, T-Mobile USA now in talks to acquire MetroPCS

MetroPCS is in talks with Deutsche Telekom to merge with T-Mobile USA. While no agreement has been reached, the two companies are in ongoing discussions. This acquisition would add a potential 9 million subscribers to T-Mobile USA's user base. In a press release, the Dallas-based MetroPCS stated that they are in ongoing discussions to merge with the beleaguered fourth-place carrier:

MetroPCS today confirmed that it is in discussions with Deutsche Telekom regarding an agreement to combine T-Mobile USA and MetroPCS. There can be no assurances that any transaction will result from these discussions, and the Company does not intend to comment further unless and until an agreement is reached.

Acquiring MetroPCS would be of great material benefit to Deutsche Telekom. T-Mobile USA has struggled for years against Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint for subscribers. Last year, AT&T attempted to acquire T-Mobile, but withdrew their acquisition bid after the US government raised serious antitrust concerns. The acquisition of MetroPCS would shore up subscriber numbers for T-Mobile. Additionally, MetroPCS already has an active LTE network, which would greatly supplement T-Mobile's own efforts, set to begin their rollout in early 2013.

Unlike T-Mobile's failed merger attempts with AT&T, joining forces with Metro PCS wouldn't give T-Mobile the one other thing they're still sorely lacking -- the iPhone, though it could better position them to try and strike a deal with Apple in the future.

Until then, merger or no merger, when it comes to T-Mobile it'll remain bring-your-own- iPhone.
